Integrated environmental health impact assessment
(IEHIA) aims at helping decision makers to better understand both the
environmental factors that affect human health and the consequences of their
decisions, so that policies and technologies can better serve human needs.
The two EU FP6 projects HEIMTSA and INTARESE have
been jointly developing a web-based system for integrated environmental health
impact assessment (IEHIAS – Integrated Environmental Health Impact Assessment
System (www.integrated-assessment.eu)).
Being able to carry out a complete IEHIA and to understand
how to use the tools in the IEHIA System requires understanding the purpose of
integrated environmental assessment and specific training in the
tools themselves. A number of training materials is available for free download below, consisting of
·
An introduction to the core IEHIA methodology of
HEIMTSA and INTARESE (prepared by IOM, incorporating material from Imperial College London), as
presented at a stakeholder meeting in Brussels on 25 January 2011;
·
An introduction to the Common Case study,
prepared by USTUTT, and presented at the same meeting;
·
An introduction to the Guidance System and
Toolkit, prepared by USTUTT and presented on April 13 2011 at a pre-Conference
Workshop of the HIA International Conference at Granada, Spain;
·
An introduction to the ‘light’ version of the
Computational System, prepared by USTUTT and presented at the same meeting;
·
An introduction to the main version of the
Computational System, prepared by JRC and presented as the same meeting.
