AFSSET and the French Risk and Society Network organise this conference on governing uncertainty to be held in Paris from 6-7 July 2009.

"Governing uncertainty: the contribution of social sciences to the governance of risks in environmental health"

The conference aims to confront stakeholders with the analyses produced by social scientists on various dimensions of risks
in environmental health, and in particular:
· to illustrate the specificities of these risks
· to analyse the emergence and dissemination of these risks in society
· to question the ways in which these risks have been assessed, managed, made acceptable, controlled and anticipated
· to discuss the methods and tools developed by social sciences in order to provide knowledge to support the policymaking
  process.
