The latest issue of Applied Acoustics published the results of an Irish study about mapping noise pollution simply and cost-effectively. The study evaluates a simple noise mapping tool and demonstrates that it produces very similar results to standard commercial software and therefore can be considered as alternative.

A short course on GIS for integrated assessment will be held from 29 June - 03 July 2009 at Imperial College, London. This workshop aims on communicating in which ways spatial methods and GIS can be used for exposure assessment and risk analysis in order to support public health policy.

The joint British-Irish 21st annual conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) will take place from 25-29 August 2009 in Dublin, Ireland.
The main theme is 'Environment, Food and Global Health'. In addition to the focus on the topic "food environment and global health" the scientific programme will cover the whole spectrum of topics in environmental epidemiology. HEIMTSA will contribute to the conference with several presentations. Detailed information about the conference can be found on the 21st ISEE website.
