Climate change is the biggest global health threat of the 21st century. An article recently published in Lancet puts emphasis on the necessity of an intersectoral and interdisciplinary response towards the health effects caused by climate change.

The TRISK - European Toxicology Risk Assessment Training Programme is now open for application. The objective of the training programme is to provide a comprehensive training in toxicological risk assessment that serves as a model for future European training in risk assessment for accredited European risk assessors.
The training programme includes eight 1-week-long course modules, an applied training at an institution performing risk assessments and a final examination and lasts throughout 2010 and 2011.

'Protecting children's health in a changing environment' - with this focus the Fifth Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health will be held from 10.-12.03.2010 in Parma, Italy. The aim is to drive Europe's agenda on emerging environmental health challenges for the upcoming years as the next milestone in the European environment and health process.

The latest issue of Applied Acoustics published the results of an Irish study about mapping noise pollution simply and cost-effectively. The study evaluates a simple noise mapping tool and demonstrates that it produces very similar results to standard commercial software and therefore can be considered as alternative.

The joint British-Irish 21st annual conference of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE) will take place from 25-29 August 2009 in Dublin, Ireland.
The main theme is 'Environment, Food and Global Health'. In addition to the focus on the topic "food environment and global health" the scientific programme will cover the whole spectrum of topics in environmental epidemiology.
